Statues for our future

Statues enough, but which celebrate our future?

Statues enough, but which celebrate our future?

We celebrate our history;
our heroes, our artists, our friends,
our legends, important events;
with monuments to their glory.

But how can we make our nations
shift focus before it’s too late,
let history be; celebrate
youth and future generations?

On OpenIDEO, an open innovation platform for social good, there’s currently a challenge to come up with ideas on how to equip young people with the skills, information and opportunities to succeed in the world of work. The many contributions there have inspired this poem. It’s certainly worth to check out the challenge, and contribute if you want.
